Xiaomi Poco M3 Review, Is it True Entry Level Killer?

Be a killer seems to be Poco's hobby. The flagship killer is in the F series, the midrange killer is in the X series, and the entry-level killer is in the M series.

Poco M3 price is crazy when the 4GB/64GB variant sells for 200$.

And then, whether Poco M3 really Entry Level Killer?

UFS Poco M3 Memory

Entry-level and mid-range phones are generally equipped with eMMC memory. If not mistaken, the official phone with the cheapest UFS memory at the moment is Realme C17 (190 $).

Now, this throne has been occupied by Poco M3! The use of UFS 2.2 with a write booster feature makes it superior to midrange and flagship phones that still rely on UFS 2.1, especially fellow entry-level ones who still rely on eMMC.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Series 6 Like Midrange?

Although it looks prestigious, the thing to note is that Snapdragon 460, 662, and 665 actually carry almost the same technology. More performance differences due to clock speed and optimization rate.

AnTuTu's score of version 8 Poco M3 is 180,000s. WiFi 6 is already supported, but users of cellular data plans are only LTE networks. For this aspect, Realme C17 with Snapdragon 460 is still interesting because real performance does not differ much.

What about Redmi 9, Redmi Note 9, and Tecno Pova? I think it's even better performance, HD-High or Smooth-Ultra for graphics when playing PUBG and AnTuTu score above 200,000.

Connectivity Also Still Feels Lacking

USB Poco M3 already uses a Type-C connector and supports OTG, and IR blaster is still available related to the remote control feature. The 3.5 mm jack is also still available so that the old beloved headset can be used without having to spend money to buy a wireless headset.

So, connectivity now and in the future is already covered by this phone. Unfortunately, this phone doesn't have NFC yet. Again, it's rare for an entry-level phone to have NFC.

Big Battery, Reasonable charging

Poco M3 is equipped with a 6000mAh battery and charged with power support up to 18W. Is it Special? I don't think so.

Unique Cameras

The Poco M3 camera is in the form of a thick rounded rectangle in Poco M3 as in Nokia PureView 808, but actually more similar to the OnePlus 8T CyberPunk 2077 edition.

A small flashlight accompanies the main lens with a resolution of 48MP (will experience pixel binning so that the final result is 12MP), a macro lens measuring 2MP, and a depth sensor measuring 2MP. Again those last two lenses.

Have a Good Screen, But Not Special

Poco M3 uses a Full HD+ resolution IPS LCD screen. Got a blue light protection certificate from TUV Rheinland. Gorilla Glass 3 protection is provided, but can only protect the screen from scratches.

Screen protectors have been installed from the factory, so no need to worry about looking for it aftermarket. The refresh rate is still 60 Hz indeed inferior to Realme C17 at 90 Hz, but at least the resolution still wins from Realme C12, Realme C15, and Tecno Pova in HD+.
